Meant to be Clean

For future reference
it's more like looking through a kaleidoscope
than through eyes
that open hazel to the world.

And just for the record
they work more like paws on the dirt
than like hands
meant to grasp and cling.

In case you were wondering
it's more like an instinctual urge
than a thinking brain
that pulls me through society.

And if by chance you didn't know
it pulls off just like a disguise
instead of staying on like skin
if I ever find a place to show it.

You're meant to be clean for a reason.

That reason has just shown its hand.

  1. i find it very bizarre that poetry brings out so many strange parts of people. i mean to say, your speaking voice and writing voice in the context of an essay are nearly identical; poetry seems to be the one definitive exception. it's amazing to try and figure out.
    keep writing, cory.
